You can park at the course room.


Traveling to your accommodation

You travel from the Netherlands or surrounding countries

  • If you come from the Netherlands or surrounding countries, we recommend that you travel to your accommodation by car. This is because the course location is not accessible by public transport. Accessibility by bike is also very limited.

You travel to the Netherlands by plane

  • If you travel to the Netherlands by plane, we recommend that you rent a car in the Netherlands. You can then travel to your accommodation by car and travel back and forth from your accommodation to the course location.
  • If you do not have a car, you can travel to your accommodation and the course location by public transport. For this you can travel by train and bus. For your journey to the course location, Dirk's Projects can pick you up and take you to and from the course location from the bus stop 'Donkerbroek Provincialeweg'.

Traveling to the course location

You travel from an accommodation

  • If you stay in a hotel or other accommodation, we recommend that you bring your car or rent a car for the duration of the course, as the course location is not accessible by public transport.
  • Do you have to travel by public transport anyway? For your journey to the course location, Dirk's Projects can pick you up and take you to and from the course location from the bus stop 'Donkerbroek Provincialeweg'.

You travel back and forth from home

  • We advise you to travel back and forth with your car or to rent a car for the duration of the course because the course room is not accessible by public transport.
  • Do you have to travel by public transport anyway? For your journey to the course location, Dirk's Projects can pick you up and take you to and from the course location from the bus stop 'Donkerbroek Provincialeweg'.

Public transport

Our advice

If you are traveling from Amsterdam to your accommodation by public transport, you will probably travel by train and bus. You could also take a taxi, but this is an expensive option in the Netherlands.

We recommend staying in Drachten, Assen, Leeuwarden or Oosterwolde. These locations have direct buses to the bus stop 'Donkerbroek Provincialeweg'. Below you can see an overview of how long the journeys by public transport from the different locations take approximately.

Amsterdam (Schiphol) to Oosterwolde

If your accommodation is in Oosterwolde you have three possible routes from Amsterdam to get to Oosterwolde.

Via Wolvega – 2:30 travel time

Step1.

Take the intercity train to Leeuwarden and get off at the Lelystad stop. Change in Lelystad to the sprinter train to Leeuwarden and get off at the stop: Wolvega.

Step2.

In Wolvega, walk to the bus station, which is located next to the train station. Take bus 116 towards Oosterwolde and get off at the stop: Busstation Oosterwolde.

Step3.

From here you can probably walk to your accommodation, or check which bus stop is closest to your accommodation.

Via Assen – 2:45 travel time

Step1.

Take the train to Groningen and get off at the stop: Assen.

Step2.

In Assen, walk to the bus station, which is located next to the train station. Take bus 114 towards Leeuwarden via Appelscha/O'wolde and get off at the bus station stop: Oosterwolde.

Step3.

From here you can probably walk to your accommodation, or check which bus stop is closest to your accommodation.

Via Heerenveen – 3:00 travel time

Step1.

Take the train towards Leeuwarden and get off at the stop: Heerenveen.

Step2.

In Heerenveen, walk to the bus station, which is located next to the train station. Take bus 115 towards Oosterwolde bus station and get off at the bus station stop: Oosterwolde.

Step3.

From here you can probably walk to your accommodation, or check which bus stop is closest to your accommodation.

Amsterdam (Schiphol) to Drachten

If your accommodation is in Drachten, you have two possible routes from Amsterdam to get to Drachten.

Via Heerenveen – 2:50 travel time

If you travel via Heerenveen there are three possible trains you can take. After the train you always take the same bus to arrive in Drachten.

Step1.

Train option 1 (without transfers)
Take the train towards Leeuwarden and get off at the stop: Heerenveen.

Train option 2 (with a transfer)
Take the train to Groningen and get off at the stop: Zwolle. Change in Zwolle to the train to Leeuwarden and get off at the stop: Heerenveen.

Train option 3 (with a transfer)
Take the train to Groningen and get off at the stop: Lelystad. Change in Lelystad to the train to Leeuwarden and get off at the stop: Heerenveen.

Whether you take train option 1 or 2 depends on which train arrives first at Schiphol. Whether you choose to transfer to train option 2 or 3 depends on which transfer has the least transfer time.

Step2.

In Heerenveen, walk to the bus station, which is located next to the train station. Take bus 320 towards Leeuwarden and get off at the stop: Van Knobeldorffplein, Drachten.

Step3.

From here you can probably walk to your accommodation, or check which bus stop is closest to your accommodation.

Via Groningen – 3:00 travel time

It is also an option to stay on the train to Groningen. From Groningen you have two possible buses that you can take to arrive in Drachten.

Step1.

Take the train to Groningen and get off at the last stop: Groningen.

Step2.

In Groningen, walk to the bus station, which is next to the train station.

Bus option 1
Take bus 314 towards Drachten and get off at the stop: Van Knobeldorffplein, Drachten.

Bus option 2
Take bus 304 towards Drachten H'hout via P+R Marum and get off at the stop: Van Knobeldorffplein, Drachten.

Step3.

From here you can probably walk to your accommodation, or check which bus stop is closest to your accommodation.

Amsterdam (Schiphol) to Assen

If your accommodation is in Assen you have two possible train routes from Amsterdam to get to Assen.

Step1.

Train option 1 (without transfers)
Take the train to Groningen and get off at the stop: Assen.

Train option 2 (with a transfer)
Take the train to Leeuwarden and get off at the stop: Zwolle. Change in Zwolle to the train to Groningen and get off at the stop: Assen.

Whether you take train option 1 or 2 depends on which train arrives first at stop: Schiphol.

Step2.

From here you can probably walk to your accommodation, or check which bus stop is closest to your accommodation.

Amsterdam (Schiphol) to Leeuwarden

If your accommodation is in Leeuwarden you have two possible train routes from Amsterdam to get to Leeuwarden.

Step1.

Train option 1 (without transfers)
Take the train towards Leeuwarden and get off at the stop: Leeuwarden.

Train option 2 (with a transfer)
Take the train to Groningen and get off at the stop: Zwolle. Change in Zwolle to the train to Leeuwarden and get off at the stop: Leeuwarden.

Whether you take train option 1 or 2 depends on which train arrives first at stop: Schiphol.

From here you can probably walk to your accommodation, or check which bus stop is closest to your accommodation.

Traveling to the course room

If you have to travel to the course location by public transport, you will have to travel to the bus stop: Donkerbroek Provincialeweg.Three different buses pass by this stop, which are useful to keep in mind when looking for accommodation near the course location.

Bus 14

This bus runs between Oosterwolde and Leeuwarden.

Bus 114

This bus runs between Assen and Leeuwarden. However, sometimes this bus runs a shortened part of the route and only runs between Oosterwolde and Drachten.

Bus 115

This bus runs between Assen and Heerenveen.

Please note that these buses only run once per hour.
